The Trees Whispered

What I can see

The cloud breaks,
a blinding white.
The new day is gentle –
from the corner of my vision I see the track
glistening against an imprint of green.

I could run to that edge,
merge into a shadowed impression of the hills,
I could run like a woman alive.
