Field of Dreams

On the days when the world
is too loud
I go back to the place
where I’ve been only once before –

a pristine garden of wildflowers,
a spring, cool, safe to drink
collected by a waterfall
flowing from a stained glass window
(the sun reaches through the colors)

depicted in the glass is a bell
never rung

there is light in silence.

How A Fairy Gets Her Wings

A fairy is born from honey and dew,
but the wings come
when she has the courage to crawl
out of her flower petal cradle
and the confidence to feel the sky.

Her wings bud when she
wants to fly in the sun
but they blossom when she
needs to fly in a storm.

A fairy is never grounded
once she has found herself.
