Helen Ruggieri's latest collection is
The Kingdom Where No One Keeps Time, poems about losing and loss. She coordinates a workshop for writers for the African American Center for Cultural Development and a series for poetry readings and open mics called the Traveling Poetry Circus.
She lives in the largest city in Cattaraugus County, New York.

I.
August 6th we fold paper cranes fifty each for all the years passed and kindle fire add the cranes one by one messengers pointing in a thin gray column a misshapen finger taking what we knew in our hands when we folded

Along the river migrating swans settle into the nacreous water ahead I see great white wings fluttering, trying to rise or so it appears as nearsighted I make paper caught on driftwood into the flight of birds
