Elle Ward was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She’s a journalist and translator writing for several magazines about international news and social issues. Her interest in poetry and fiction started at a young age, when her dad would read her Edgar Allan Poe’s poetry before bed.
“The Wickerman” is her first poetry micro-chapbook.

A Crime
Though I am young, no Longer may you dirty my Vestal livery

Now the sun rises Yet you keep me in shadows The sun sets- repeat

Like a little bird I break free and spread my wings And you can’t catch up

Releasing myself From your guilt and your culpa You betrayed me first

In my Wickerman I put my bodies of shame and set it alight
