normalcy in chaos

hearing her harping
on all that’s changed
since this virus struck
makes me appreciate
that she has not
normalcy in chaos
hearing her harping
on all that’s changed
since this virus struck
makes me appreciate
that she has not

don’t, but

don’t look at the answers
but I do

don’t eat between meals
but I do

don’t tell anyone
but I do

don’t text and drive
but I do

don’t look at this mess
but I do

don’t forget your mask

Pandemic Prognosis

I went to Lowe's yesterday
wore my mask
stayed six feet apart

this morning a sore throat
my chest feels tight
do I have a cough?
a sense of smell?
a fever? COVID?

should I call 9-1-1?
stay in the bathroom
not to infect my wife?

I hear from the kitchen,
Breakfast is ready.

I poke my head out,
False Alarm.

I smell bacon.

First Shopping Trip – COVID 2020

park, get out, shut the door, forgot my mask, open the door

grab my mask, put it on, shut the door, glasses fog up, drop my keys

take off mask, glasses clear, find my keys, put on mask, go in store

overflow my cart, get in line, six feet apart, forgot my billfold

leave empty handed - without toilet paper

I am positive.

To Do

On my workbench a list of tasks to tackle,
projects put off since at least last summer,
hoping to find the time to do them this year.
Pandemic mandate means I must stay home
these past six months of days filled with time,
plenty of time, yet my jobs remain undone.
