If Air Was Heavy

If air was heavy
and I was not,
my home would be in the sky
with strolling clouds as neighbors.
Birds would fly up to say hello.
Rain would always fall beneath my feet.
In the evening,
when the sun has gone to rest,
the moon and I will sit together
counting our lucky stars.

Total Solar Eclipse

At one moment of that day
our brightest star was hidden
by a pale shining moon.
We stood watching together,
wondering at the workings
of a universe
that none us could own,
but all of us could share.

Day Burn

Shadows dance like smoke
across the window’s plain,
remnants of another day’s burning.
Thru the tinder of trees’ green leaves,
tiny embers of sun flash and flare,
dying into a smoldering
last glow of sunset,
unwilling to give up
its last glory of brightness.

Star Namer

She gives stars names
to capture them
in her heart,
then she lets them go
to find their way
in a sky full of darkness.
They shine with joy,
knowing of a place
that guards their light.

Mystic Mountain Angels Speak

Mystic mountain angels
speak to clouds,
calling the rain to appear.
In the dark of night,
lightning flashes their pleas,
echoing in the canyons,
sounding as thunder.
Air crackles with prayers,
answered in the falling rain.

Winter, Part One

Pale sun
              diminished
in snow clad clouds.
Shadows struggle
over a frozen pond.
Geese seek refuge
in far away skies.

Window World

A perfect place to watch
rain making leaves flinch
in their touching,
then brighten slowly
at the gentleness of the blows.

Night Illumination (008)

Lightning flashes,
bullying sudden blue-white trees
to ask for rain.

Thunder from a darken horizon.

In the silent aftermath,
fireflies play.

Rush Of Wind

Rush of wind
sweeps leaves from trees.
A window’s glass stands stoic
against the bristles.

Wink Of A Butterfly

Delicate, quiet as silence,
a butterfly pauses on a lilting branch.
Unfurling painted mosaics
on canvas limbs,
the wings open to smile, to nod,
to wink,
then close, never revealing
the secret of its sharing.

and a yesterday

There is a pause in the blowing wind.
A stillness descends,
stopping to remember quiet,
and a yesterday.

Mercy

Sunlight catches a crystal globe
hanging in a window.
Laughing rainbows
dance in the air.
