Miho Kinnas BioCVR The Door 2022

Cover art by Miho Kinnas

The Door

A door just opened on a street
A love affair that lasted a lifetime
stepped onto the pavement
I was held in such a familiar way
while learning the unfamiliar body
We had all the time in the world, as if
A love affair that lasted a lifetime
didn’t look back at the closing door
of the bus I had missed

Virtual

Here is a box
wrapped with
waxed paper
cornered, taped
and tied up
with a string.
not too loose
not too tight
Imagine such a box
empty.

Slow

a camellia blossom
an ant crawls
over fingers

fungi
grows like the ears
under the leaves

as if they don’t belong
fingertips barely touch
a quiet afternoon

nude
tiny at the edge
of resolve

my knees
in the hot springs
laughing

Consequence

A little frog buried
under the hibiscus petals.
By afternoon,
those petals will grow
too large and are expected
to disrupt the sunset.

haiku

spilled ground coffee
dancing in the morning sun
single origin; Columbia

Full To The Brim

Uprooted marsh grasses
caught in the dock ladder
Making an appearance in the afternoon
The moon is a long-armed puppeteer.
The blades to the sea.
A dragonfly rides on.
