Beauty at the Gym, Just a Little Lie &
Love and War
— were previously

          Beauty at the Gym

With shoulders like boulders
He smoulders and sweats
Doing chin-ups and one ups
Among other gym vets

His rises with
rhythm
timing
practiced repetition
The purr of an engine
A swan taking flight
A lover’s sunrise
A symphony of motion

Just a Little Lie

Blood Pain
Quick trip to the hospital
Hands in places I’d rather not share
Surgery
Procedure gone bad
More surgery
Pain meds Nurses
You can’t go home until you pee
Walking More walking
Husband walking with me
He helps me to the bathroom
A plan coalesces
He will pee for me
We’ll tell them I did it

I get to go home

Under false “pee”tenses

Togetherness

We want to be together
but
can't stand each other
--- or ourselves ---
when we are.

Waking Up

It's 4 a.m.

He's awake.

I made the mistake of moving.

He thought I was awake
so he talked to me.

Then I was.

Love and War

All is fair in

Love and War

and
Ours
was
such a

Lovely War
