A (Fine) Set of Teeth

The gap between my teeth began growing last month –
September 27th, 8 pm
while you were crossing the street.
The gap was unnoticeable at first so you didn’t see me
when I waved.
But I kept walking and so did my teeth.
They travelled back my gums, and my throat
until there was no space left and I swallowed some.
Others began falling out one by one –
in the sink, down the drain, piling at my feet.
I crushed a molar, canines got stuck in my slippers
and nothing – not even moss – grew out from their bloodied beds.

I still sometimes wonder what will happen if next time you see me.
What if I smiled.

I’m On Cloud Fine

The TV's on and Bobby's been up since
5 am. The last time I called in sick was
Tuesday and my boss thinks of firing me
either way.
Breakfast's gray so I skip it but I bring
my umbrella on my way out.

Clouds never gather unless
there's a storm coming.
