What hat do you wear
To travel to Washington?

           An elegant beret
           For the special occasion.

What hat do you wear
To meet the new president?

           Made of wool felt
           For the winds of January.

What hat do you wear
To stand at the Capitol?

          With a big silver bow
          To welcome the people.

What hat do you wear
To sing “My Country Tis of Thee?”

In a soft shade of gray
          For the solemn moment.

What hat do you wear
To celebrate hope?

          Shining with sequins
          To light up tomorrow.

I wear a magnificent hat.
I am the Queen of Soul.
